boopstr is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our pet-focused social app.
Boopstr, PBC (“Boopstr,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation, United States. We collect as little personal information as possible and only use it to provide and improve Boopstr.
1. What We Collect
- Account & Login Data: If you sign in with Bluesky, we process your Bluesky identifier and profile metadata necessary for sign-in. We never store your Bluesky password.
- Waitlist & Communications: Email address you provide to join our waitlist or contact support. We may send product news and updates to our Terms or Privacy Policy; you can unsubscribe anytime.
- Pet & User Content: Pet profiles, memorials, photos, posts, registries, comments, and similar content you create in Boopstr.
- Technical Data: IP address, device and app information, and usage diagnostics collected to secure, operate, and improve the Services (via providers such as Supabase).
- Verification Data: Data required by Altcha to verify you are a human and deter abuse.
2. How We Use Information
- Operate, maintain, and improve Boopstr features and performance.
- Provide customer support and communicate about updates you opt into (e.g., waitlist emails).
- Personalize your in-app experience in a privacy-respecting way (never for ad targeting; we do not sell personal data).
- Detect, prevent, and respond to abuse, fraud, or security incidents.
3. Content & Privacy Controls
Boopstr Content (not federated): Pet profiles, memorials, registries, and other content you create in Boopstr currently remain within Boopstr and are not published to the AT Protocol. You control who can see your Boopstr content through privacy settings (private, shared with select users, or public within Boopstr).
Bluesky Posts (federated and public): If you choose to post to Bluesky from within Boopstr, those posts are published to the Bluesky network and are always public by design of the AT Protocol and may be visible across the federated ecosystem. Deletion from Boopstr does not guarantee immediate deletion across Bluesky or other services.
4. Sharing & Third-Party Services
We share information only as needed to operate Boopstr or when you direct us to. Integrated services and providers include:
- Bluesky Social: Account sign-in and social graph interoperability (for optional posting to Bluesky).
- Petfinder: Adoption feeds and related pet discovery features.
- Supabase: Server-side implementation, storage, authentication state; we never save user passwords.
- Altcha: Human verification to reduce bots and abuse.
- Rye API: Wishlists / gift registry features integrating with Shopify stores.
These third parties process data under their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their independent practices.
5. What We Don’t Do
- No sale of personal data: We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
- No ad-based tracking: We do not use your memorial content or private pet profiles for advertising, and we do not track you across the wider internet.
6. Data Retention
- You may delete your account or content at any time in-app or by contacting us.
- Content you intentionally make public within Boopstr (e.g., certain registries or memorials) may remain visible to others according to your settings.
- Federated Bluesky posts are governed by Bluesky and may not be instantly removed across the network.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location (e.g., California, EU/EEA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data and to opt out of non-essential communications. To exercise rights, contact us at support@boopstr.com.
8. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards and reputable providers (such as Supabase) to protect your information. No system is 100% secure, but we strive to protect your data and notify you of material security incidents as required by law.
9. Children’s Privacy
Boopstr is not directed to children under 13. If we learn we collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are significant, we’ll notify you in-app or by email (for waitlist users). Your continued use of Boopstr after an update means you accept the revised policy.
